Hydrocodone
New DEA rules may affect some Sindecuse pharmacy customers
Some Â鶹´«Ã½ community members may be affected by stricter regulations put in place by the Federal Drug Enforcement Administration on hydrocodone-combination products. Vicodin, Norco and Tussionex are product names commonly prescribed in this category along with their generic equivalents.
Starting Monday, Oct. 6, 2014, customers will not be able to receive refills on prescriptions for these products turned into pharmacies prior to this date. Patients will need to have a new prescription with a handwritten signature from their provider to take to the pharmacy. Providers may no longer call in or fax prescriptions for these products to pharmacies or allow refills as of Oct. 6. State of Michigan and DEA regulations require a government-issued photo ID be on file with us before prescriptions for controlled substances can be processed.
Sindecuse Pharmacy is complying with these new federal regulations and has been providing information to WMU Â鶹´«Ã½s and employees regarding this change. If you have questions please call the Sindecuse health center pharmacy at (269) 387-3355.
