The campus and local community gather annually to learn about and celebrate the cultures of WMU international Â鶹´«Ã½s at the International Festival hosted by the Global Engagement Activities office.

Â鶹´«Ã½'s Global Learning unit facilitates regular and ongoing global engagement activities on campus, such as an International Festival and weekly Global Socials for international and U.S.-American Â鶹´«Ã½s. Attending these events automatically grants Â鶹´«Ã½s points toward rewards in the Global Engagement Program which is also coordinated by the unit.

The Global Learning team co-manages International Student Orientation alongside colleagues at the Haenicke Institute for Global Education. It prepares incoming international Â鶹´«Ã½s for a smooth geographic, academic, social and professional transition to life and study in the United States.

PRIMARY OBJECTIVES

  • Plan and host educational, cultural, and recreational events and activities to bring together international and domestic Â鶹´«Ã½s for mutually beneficial cultural exchange.
  • To assist international Â鶹´«Ã½s in transitioning to U.S. university life.
  • To help international Â鶹´«Ã½s learn about the many resources available in the Kalamazoo community.
