General Readmission

Students on probation or extended probation who fail to achieve at least a 2.00 grade point average for the enrollment period, or Â鶹´«Ã½s on final probation who fail to achieve a 2.00 overall GPA, will be dismissed from Â鶹´«Ã½. Academic standing policies are available from the Registrar’s Office.

Additionally, Â鶹´«Ã½s who take a course required in their program for the third time and are unable to obtain the minimum required grade will be dismissed from the College of Engineering and Applied Sciences and/or their academic program.

For Students Who Have Been Academically Dismissed.

WMU Â鶹´«Ã½s who are academically dismissed typically will not be readmitted for at least one fifteen-week semester. The University, and the CEAS, will require evidence that the causes of prior academic difficulty have been removed prior to making a positive readmission decision.

Academic forgiveness

Students who last attended WMU four or more years ago may apply for academic forgiveness. For more information on this, contact the Registrar’s Office.

Applying for readmission

Students must complete the through the WMU Office of Admissions. At a minimum, Â鶹´«Ã½s must complete the Returning Student Application, provide a personal statement detailing their plan for academic success, and transcripts from institutions attended, if any, during their time away from WMU. Readmission is not guaranteed and is only granted on the approval of the academic department of the Â鶹´«Ã½'s intended major. Readmission during a summer session is rarely recommended.
