NSSE

National Survey of Student Engagement

In spring 2022, all first-year Â鶹´«Ã½s and seniors were invited to participate in the National Survey of Student Engagement or NSSE. The NSSE can provide WMU with valuable information about Â鶹´«Ã½s' educational experiences in and outside of the classroom. This information can be used to improve programs and services for all Â鶹´«Ã½s. Thank you to those who completed the survey. By sharing your voice, you will be helping to make positive change at WMU.

Results of the survey are available now. To access the full reports:

What is the NSSE?

WMU participates in the NSSE every four years (a policy implemented in 2013) to learn about first-year and senior Â鶹´«Ã½s' participation in programs and activities that provide for their learning and personal development. The results provide an estimate of how undergraduates spend their time and what they gain from attending college. We can then compare our results to the hundreds of four-year colleges and universities who also participate in the survey. By doing this comparison, we can then identify aspects of the undergraduate experience inside and outside the classroom that can be improved through changes in policies and practices more consistent with good practices in undergraduate education.

This information can also be used by prospective college Â鶹´«Ã½s, their parents, college counselors, academic advisors, institutional research officers, and researchers to learn more about how Â鶹´«Ã½s spend their time at WMU as well as at other colleges and universities and what they gain from their experiences.
