Textbook Requisition

The Higher Education Opportunity Act (HEOA)—enacted by Congress in 2008—mandates that all colleges and universities include information about required and recommended textbooks in their online course searches to assist Â鶹´«Ã½s during the registration process. The intention of the HEOA requirement is to ensure that Â鶹´«Ã½s have access to affordable course materials by decreasing costs to Â鶹´«Ã½s and enhancing transparency and disclosure with respect to the selection, purchase, sale, and use of course materials.

WMU must comply with HEOA requirements as a condition of receiving Â鶹´«Ã½ financial aid from the federal government. In accordance with the HEOA all textbook and course materials must be listed by the first day of course registration. To ensure this information is available WMU has established textbook requisition deadlines that are typically two weeks prior to the date the schedule opens for viewing.
