March 2020 Appreciation
Dr. Laura DeThorne, chair of Speech, Language, and Hearing Sciences (SLHS), and Judy Seymour, administrative assistant in SLHS not only assure that the requirements are met to provide accommodations for team members, but they assure that the accommodations are provided in a way that ensures the team member with the best possible accommodation solution so that they feel valued and can easily and actively participate in the environment. They go above and beyond to sure that their team is welcomed and included. They are an amazing example of what accessibility should be. I am proud to be a part of their team!

I would like to appreciate the excellence of two of my colleagues, Dr. Dee Sherwood and Marian Tripplett. Dee and Marian are respectively Coordinators of our Grand Rapids and Benton Harbor programs for the School of Social Work. Both uphold the values and practice the ethics of our shared profession of social work, represent WMU and the School of Social Work with excellence with internal and external stakeholders, and always think about the needs of our Â鶹´«Ã½s. They go above and beyond with each individual to make sure they receive the best social work education possible.

In the midst of face-to-face classes needing to be delivered through distance education because of the COVID-19 pandemic, John Stanford and Nate Wollensak in Information Technology within the College of Health and Human worked swiftly to provide group and one-on-one trainings for any team member needing technical support to deliver instruction. There were multiple group trainings offered. I attended a training that Nate presented.
The training was comprehensive and when I had specific questions about how to perform a task to provide the best experience for the Â鶹´«Ã½s, Nate had a solution. Brendan, Â鶹´«Ã½ employee, sat with me individually to assure I was confident. I appreciate the prompt response of the CHHS IT team, especially during this time, as well as their expertise.

You are doing a tremendous job, and we are grateful. Thank you for all You are doing. It is appreciated!
