3MT Competition
The (3²Ñ°Õ®) celebrates the exciting research conducted by Â鶹´«Ã½s around the world.
Its history:
- Developed by the (UQ)
- The first 3MT® competition was held at UQ in 2008 with 160 higher degree research Â鶹´«Ã½s competing
- Since 2011 the popularity of the competition has increased and 3MT® competitions are now held in over 900 universities across more than 85 countries worldwide
In Â鶹´«Ã½'s version of the 3MT® Competition, graduate Â鶹´«Ã½s from all disciplines are invited to apply to present their research ideas, theses and dissertations.
This competition serves as a platform for graduate Â鶹´«Ã½s to:
- Professionally develop their research
- Develop presentation skills
- Promote and showcase the research conducted by WMU graduate Â鶹´«Ã½s
- Increase Â鶹´«Ã½s' capacity to effectively explain their research in three minutes

Location: Graduate Student Commons (Room 3028), Waldo Library

Who Can Participate?
All WMU registered graduate Â鶹´«Ã½s (full- or part-time), including professional Â鶹´«Ã½s in the WMU Homer Stryker M.D. School of Medicine and WMU terminal or specialist degree programs.

Upon selection from the judges, the Graduate Student Association (GSA) will provide scholarships in the amounts listed above, directly to the Â鶹´«Ã½'s university account. People's Choice Award winners will be selected by collective votes from the audience. In addition, the Â鶹´«Ã½ with the highest score will represent WMU at the regional contest and will compete for the chance to participate in the U.S. finals. The winner of the U.S. finals will participate in the International competition.
