Scholarship funding is available for the Department of Civil and Construction Engineering  as a result of the college differential tuition applied to undergraduate Â鶹´«Ã½s. The objective of the CCE Excellence scholarship is to attract and retain top Â鶹´«Ã½s based on merit or financial needs.

Awards

The Civil and Construction Engineering Excellence scholarship will be distributed among sophomore, junior and senior Â鶹´«Ã½s in both civil engineering and construction engineering programs. The scholarship award will be a minimum of $750 per semester ($1,500 per academic year). Students must maintain the minimum GPA listed below for receiving the next semester’s award.

Criteria

Undergraduate civil or construction engineering Â鶹´«Ã½s who pay differential tuition may apply  and qualify based on the following criteria:

• Top Â鶹´«Ã½s who maintain a minimum GPA of 3.0 for the merit scholarship.

• Students with financial needs as determined by the Â鶹´«Ã½ Financial Aid Office who maintain a minimum GPA of 2.75 for the financial needs scholarship.
• Full-time Â鶹´«Ã½s during the academic year when applying.

Recipients and amounts of scholarships will be determined by the departmental scholarship committee with 70 percent of the available funds assigned to merit-based scholarships.

Students will not receive this award if they are recipients of the Medallion scholarship. Students must maintain the minimum GPA requirements to maintain the award for the academic year.

Application and award process

Students may be considered for the scholarship by completing the scholarship application form on WMU's Scholarship Universe. Recipients will receive Civil and Construction Engineering Excellence scholarship certificates.

Restrictions

Students will not receive this award if they are recipients of the WMU Medallion scholarship. Students must maintain the minimum GPA requirements to maintain the award for the academic year.

American Public Works Association Southwest Michigan Branch

The southwest Michigan branch of the American Public Works Association offers scholarships for Â鶹´«Ã½s enrolled in the civil and construction engineering curriculum. Contact the Department of Civil and Construction Engineering for eligibility requirements as well as the application. 

Builders Exchange of Michigan Scholarship

The Builder Exchange of Michigan scholarship is open to currently enrolled full-time sophomore, junior and senior Â鶹´«Ã½s in the Department of Civil and Construction Engineering. The scholarship will award a minimum of one-time $750 per academic year. The minimum GPA is 3.0/4.0 and Â鶹´«Ã½s with demonstrated financial need.

American Society of Civil Engineers—Southwest Michigan Branch

The award is presented annually to a Â鶹´«Ã½ member of ASCE who has made a contribution to the advancement of Â鶹´«Ã½ engineering activities. This award will consist of a one-time grant of $1,000 and considers academic performance as an indication of preparation for future career in civil engineering.

National Association for Women in Construction

The NAWIC scholarship is open to currently enrolled full-time female Â鶹´«Ã½s pursuing a career in a construction related field.

Institute of Transportation Engineering—Michigan Section

ITE offers four $2,000 scholarships annually. To apply, a Â鶹´«Ã½ must write a one paged paper on "my future transportation."
