Admissions

 

The mission of the Department of Counselor Education and Counseling Psychology is to develop competent, ethical and culturally sensitive counselor education and counseling psychology professionals through graduate education and scholarship. To accomplish this mission, the department offers doctoral training in counseling psychology and counselor education and master's level training in counseling psychology, counselor education (clinical mental health counseling; marriage, couples and family counseling; and school counseling), and rehabilitation counseling and rehabilitation counseling/teaching with a concentration in blindness.

We strive to recruit and retain Â鶹´«Ã½s of diverse racial/ethnic backgrounds from local, state, national and international locations. We look forward to receiving your complete application.

WMU's online graduate application system allows all Â鶹´«Ã½s (domestic and international) to submit required information into one system. General application information for the University, as well as specific requirements for individual programs, are captured into this system.

Accelerated Master's in Counseling Psychology Sessions (AGDP)

The Accelerated Master's in Counseling Psychology (AGDP) is for current undergraduate Â鶹´«Ã½s at Â鶹´«Ã½ with majors from the department of Psychology. Students from the Department of Psychology must have junior or senior status to be eligible for the program.  Prospective Â鶹´«Ã½s from outside of WMU should register for one of the Master's Information Sessions in the next section.

The information sessions will be held on the following days:

Master's Information Sessions

The CECP Program Coordinators are hosting information sessions for Â鶹´«Ã½s who are interested in our master's programs. If you would hear more about the differences between the different master's options (e.g., Clinical Mental Health Counseling, Counseling Psychology), want to know what we look for in competitive applicants, or have specific questions about the programs, please register for an information session.
