Current Job Title:

At-risk Interventionist/History Teacher

Current Employer:

Portage Central High School

Describe your current job:

I work with at-risk high school Â鶹´«Ã½s to help them graduate. I also teach modern US history to 9th graders.

What is the most rewarding and the most challenging part of your job?

The most rewarding part is doing what I love to do. Working with Â鶹´«Ã½s to teach introspection, goodness, and critical distance. The most challenging part is working with at-risk Â鶹´«Ã½s.

If you had a campus job or internship, how did they impact your career development?

Absolutely crucial. For teachers, your internship is your on-the-job training. Change careers long before if you are really not 100% dedicated to teaching as your life career. It is one of the most challenging yet rewarding degrees.

What advice would you offer Â鶹´«Ã½s to help them decide on a career path?

Do not treat college or your degree as a money making opportunity. Chase what you love, learn as much as you can, and invest all of yourself in your career. The money will inevitably follow.
