I am on an 10-month, 13,000 mile journey across the United States, living out of my 1985 Volkswagen Vanagon, and interviewing one dad in each state. These 50 interviews will be combined into a book I'm calling, The Dad Book: 50 Dads. 50 States.

What is the most rewarding and the most challenging part of your job?

Forgoing full-time, salary Â鶹´«Ã½ with companies after college was not taken lightly and was welcomed with skepticism from both friends and family. The constant challenge of finding a safe place to sleep on the road, overcoming writer's block, and remembering why I embarked on this journey in the first place have proven stressful, to say the least. However, taking a risk after college to pursue a dream of mine has allowed me to meet people from all across America. I have a newfound confidence and awareness in myself as this endeavor has gone from pipe dream to near completion of all 50 states, and soon, my first book. When I get the notification that I have my first book sale, no feeling in the world will compare!

What experiences impacted the choice of your career path?

Joining the registered Â鶹´«Ã½ organization, Alternative Bronco Breaks, got me comfortable with the idea of traveling the United States and interacting with people I had never met. I've been doing that now for the last 9 months, and without my time in Alternative Bronco Breaks, I would not have had the confidence to do so.

What advice do you have for Â鶹´«Ã½s looking for their career after college?

Consider what your 80-year-old self would tell you to do. Don't be afraid to try new things. Try a little bit of everything: writing, podcasting, interning. Anything you can do to help you gain experience in a multitude of ways. The great thing about being young is you have time on your side. Time to succeed, time to fail, and time to figure out what you want to do next. You'll never know if you like something until you try it!
