Bronco Spotlight: Kyle Krupp
Internal Auditor at Owens, Illinois
My job is very fast-paced, which is high-stressed but allows me to gain a lot of knowledge of the accounting field while also working on my public speaking skills.
What is the most rewarding and the most challenging part of your job?
The most rewarding part of my job is the people I'm able to work with and the places the job takes me. The most challenging part is the winter busy season.
If you had a campus job or internship, how did they impact your career development?
Internships are the most important piece to being marketable to employers. Even if you have to settle for an internship outside of your major, it is better than nothing. Every internship, good or bad, can be used as a learning tool. My advice: DO NOT put off getting internships. Start applying for them during your freshman year and throughout college. Even if the job description lists a specific grade level, I’ve learned that some companies will still accept you, but will just cut your pay slightly due to having less experience. Be prepared to hear no, but never give up. The more interviews, the better.
What advice do you have for Â鶹´«Ã½s looking for their career after college?
My advice for Â鶹´«Ã½s looking for their career after college is that most everyone doesn’t start at their dream job right out of college. So don’t let it discourage you if you don’t get what you are looking for. Any job you can land, will help build you into a better employee for that dream job. Also, be open to new ideas. If a recruiter from a company contacts you about an opening they have, and it doesn’t sound like something you want to do, still interview and get that practice. You never know, maybe you’ll end up loving that more than you thought.
