Career Pathway: Business law

Students who are not interested in law school but interested in a law-related career should consider Â鶹´«Ã½â€™s business law major.

The interdisciplinary nature of this program will give you a competitive edge in your career because you will be able to understand and solve problems at the intersection of law and business. You will have a strong foundation in general business law, developing and refining important law-related business skills. This major will also prepare you to use your law-related skills in connection with the formation of and operation of your own business, in areas such as real estate and mediation services.

What is business law?

Technical skills are part of the proficiencies that are required for a job and may be developed in your major coursework. Business law-oriented technical skills desired are experience with data mining software, Microsoft Suite proficiency, ERP and SAP experience and search software (Fastcase, LexisNexis and Citation Services).

Interpersonal skills enable you to succeed and are often developed outside of the classroom. Business law-oriented interpersonal skills include active listening, public speaking, persuasion, negotiation, service orientation, critical thinking and complex problem solving.
