Dr. Matthew Cavalli, associate dean, joined WMU in 2018. He oversees the college's STEM Talent Expansion Program (STEP) program and the advising office and helps coordinate undergraduate academic activities throughout the college. As a professor of mechanical engineering, he also teaches courses in the areas of materials science, composite materials, and solid mechanics. Previously, he worked for 14 years as a faculty member, department chair and assistant/associate dean at the University of North Dakota.
Cavalli is a registered professional engineer in North Dakota and Michigan. He is active in the American Society for Engineering Education and regularly publishes in the areas of materials behavior, solid mechanics and engineering education.
