Dr. Susan Stapleton is dean of the Graduate College and professor in the Department of Biological Sciences at Â鶹´«Ã½.
Stapleton’s research focuses on understanding the mechanism by which hormones, nutrients and metals regulate the expression of metabolic genes associated with carbohydrate or fatty acid metabolism, including the signal processes involved. Efforts have also included understanding the action of insulin-mimetics in models of both Type 1 and Type 2 diabetes. In addition to laboratory research, Stapleton has been involved in research efforts to improve STEM pre-service and teacher education.
Stapleton has taught primarily biochemistry courses at the undergraduate and graduate level. For STEM research training programs, such as the Summer Research Experience for Undergraduates program, she has presented seminars and workshops on research ethics.
