General summary
Directs the research compliance function for the University.
Major duties
- Develops, implements and communicates research compliance programs. Oversees adherence to applicable policies and regulations.
- Serves as chief administrator and provides programmatic support for the Institutional Review Board, the Institutional Care and Use Committee and the Institutional Biosafety Committee. Serves as assistant administrator for Export Control Compliance.
- Manages and provides support for the research administration software through approving access, processing requests, and assigning roles.
- Researches, analyzes and interprets trade regulations and laws. Reviews and supports international research Â鶹´«Ã½ to ensure compliance with export control regulations.
- Collaborates with investigators and technicians to review technical data proposed for export to assess technical content, ensure accurate technology classification and licensing determinations.
- Develops and maintains compliance manual, procedures and policies. Conducts compliance audits and investigations of export activities.
- Advises, trains and provides technical assistance to the University research community.
- Prepares and submits assurances, registrations and annual reports as required.
- Serves as liaison to research compliance regulatory agencies.
Minimum qualifications
Minimum qualifications based upon job documentation and industry best practices. Any current employees not meeting these qualifications will be grandfathered until they move to a different job.
Required education
- Master's degree in related field from an accredited institution.
Required experience
- Three years' relevant experience.
- Supervisory experience.
- Excellent interpersonal, written and verbal communication skills.
- Strong written, oral and interpersonal communication skills.
Required other
- Must be a U.S citizen due to potential export control issues and be able to pass and maintain U.S government security clearance.
Physical requirements
Office or other indoor work with minimal physical demands such as occasionally lifting or moving materials less than 25 pounds.
Working conditions
Work is generally performed in a well-lit, temperature-controlled indoor environment with occasional exposure to the outdoors or any number of elements.
