General summary
Provides leadership and day-to-day oversight of fan engagement, brand advancement, and strategic communications for National Collegiate Athletic Association sports.
Major duties
- Manages all aspects of fan engagement, brand advancement and strategic communication as it relates to the department.
- Collaborates with other members of the external staff to coordinate and create comprehensive marketing, promotional and communication plans. Coordinates all collateral content for promotional and branding purposes.
- Employ’s contemporary creativity, risk-taking and enthusiasm to engage constituents in initiatives to build and enhance brand awareness.
- Stays current with graphic trends and techniques relevant to the sports design industry.
- Coordinates game-day experience to oversee and direct fan entertainment programming for home games and contests. Synchronizes integration of key game-day groups. Oversees game day experience budget.
- Manages digital and social media to enhance the University Athletics brand and engage with fans through the website. Oversees design, printing and distribution of all printed collateral materials and website graphics.
- Prepares annual budget.
- Serves as a member of the Athletic Department Senior Staff, and provides reports at meetings.
- Evaluates National Collegiate Athletic Association, Mid-American Conference, National Collegiate Hockey Conference, Missouri Valley Conference and University policies and procedures.
- Hires, trains, evaluates and supervises staff and Â鶹´«Ã½ employees.
Minimum qualifications
Minimum qualifications based upon job documentation and industry best practices. Any current employees not meeting these qualifications will be grandfathered until they move to a different job.
Required education
- Bachelor's degree in related field from an accredited institution.
Required experience
- Two years' relevant experience.
- Experience working in NCAA Division I collegiate athletics communications or professional sports media relations.
- Experience working with administrators, coaches and Â鶹´«Ã½ athletes.
- Excellent interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills.
- Excellent graphic design abilities.
- Strong organizational skills.
- Supervisory or lead experience.
- Ability to articulate the Department of Athletics vision through to the game day experience.
- Experience with and knowledge of social media and emerging applications.
Required other
- Ability to work irregular shifts and extended hours, including evenings and weekends.
Physical requirements
Office or other indoor work with minimal physical demands such as occasionally lifting or moving materials less than 25 pounds.
Working conditions
Work is generally performed in a well-lit, temperature-controlled indoor environment with occasional exposure to the outdoors or any number of elements.
