General summary
Advances retention and graduation of demographically underrepresented Â鶹´«Ã½s and first-generation Â鶹´«Ã½s by providing co-curricular Â鶹´«Ã½ support at the registered Â鶹´«Ã½ organization (RSO) level as part of the navigator network.
Major duties
- Collaborates with Â鶹´«Ã½s and Â鶹´«Ã½ organization support systems to provide stronger connection and utilization of campus resources that are available to registered Â鶹´«Ã½ organizations.
- Makes and maintains connections and relationships with Â鶹´«Ã½s, providing support, resources, and connection to relevant University departments to provide useful information as appropriate. Provides outreach through various communication channels.
- Provides support to help Â鶹´«Ã½s navigate all aspects of entry, assimilation, retention, and graduation related to college life. Performs assessments and monitors progress. Promotes the personal and academic success and well-being of Â鶹´«Ã½s with emphasis on historically marginalized communities, pell-eligible, affinity based RSOs, and first-generation Â鶹´«Ã½s.
- Tracks Â鶹´«Ã½ data and communication among the navigation network. Manages data for program assessment and performance. Develops, prepares, and maintains Â鶹´«Ã½ data. Evaluates and recommends improvements to program operations.
- Assists Â鶹´«Ã½ organizations and their leaders through intentional and specific means of programming, workshops, retreats, and other relationship building methods to assist in providing a stronger sense of community on campus.
Minimum qualifications
Minimum qualifications based upon job documentation and industry best practices. Any current employees not meeting these qualifications will be grandfathered until they move to a different job.
Required education
- Bachelor's degree in related field from an accredited institution.
Required experience
- One year's relevant experience.
- Experience in human, community, Â鶹´«Ã½ development or social work.
- Demonstrated experience as a strong Â鶹´«Ã½ advocate.
- Ability to collaborate with others.
- Experience with event management.
- Strong interpersonal, written and verbal communication skills.
- Strong organizational skills.
- Experience using and querying databases.
- Office software skills, including word-processing, presentations and spreadsheets.
- Demonstrated interest, skills, and experience in working with diverse groups.
Physical requirements
Office or other indoor work with minimal physical demands such as occasionally lifting or moving materials less than 25 pounds.
Working conditions
Work is generally performed in a well-lit, temperature-controlled indoor environment with occasional exposure to the outdoors or any number of elements.
