General summary
Responsible for managing the overall technical, computing, and electronic needs of the Physics Department and its associated services.
Major duties
- Provides technical consultation and troubleshooting of specialized departmental systems, including high-performance clusters, programmable logic modules, and data acquisition systems.
- Designs, upgrades, and builds electronic control systems for the department and accelerator.
- Maintains and upgrades the accelerator facility. Develops new control systems for more efficient running.
- Maintains and upgrades all computing systems and associated hardware and software in the physics department and associated accelerator.
- Participates in the advancement of the performance of the accelerator and department research computing and control facilities as time permits.
- Hires, trains, evaluates and supervises Â鶹´«Ã½ employees.
Minimum qualifications

Required education
- Associate degree in related field from an accredited institution, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Required experience
- Three years' relevant experience.
- Experience with computing.
- Experience with network administration.
- Experience with electronics development.
- Experience in computer hardware and software support.
- Experience in electronic repair and design.
Physical requirements
Office or other indoor work with minimal physical demands such as occasionally lifting or moving materials less than 25 pounds.
Working conditions
Work is generally performed in a well-lit, temperature-controlled indoor environment with occasional exposure to the outdoors or any number of elements.
