General summary
Manages and oversees preparation for clinical rotations for the physician assistant Â鶹´«Ã½s., Serves as coordinator of assessment. Participates in the Â鶹´«Ã½ evaluation process and end-of-rotation activities.
Major duties
- Determines availability of preceptors and clinical sites. Builds master schedule to match Â鶹´«Ã½s and preceptors or sites. Schedules Â鶹´«Ã½s for clinical rotations. Meets with Â鶹´«Ã½s individually to determine elective and core rotations.
- Adheres to clinical year standards and policies. Reviews and monitors all requirements for clinical placements, background checks, drug screens, and medical requirements. Meets with Â鶹´«Ã½s individually to complete credentialing paperwork for sites. Compiles and facilitates credentialing paperwork for sites.
- Establishes communication with preceptors and Â鶹´«Ã½s regarding performance at each rotation. Follows up on Â鶹´«Ã½s' Â鶹´«Ã½ for growth and improvement as identified by preceptors. Periodically visits clinical sites to ensure compliance with standards. Develops professional development activities for return to campus timeframe.
- Assists the department leadership with recruiting and retaining clinical sites and preceptors. Review affiliation agreements and process renewals. Maintains relationships with other clinical coordinators at other universities. Pursues interdisciplinary Â鶹´«Ã½ for physician assistant Â鶹´«Ã½ learning. Organizes job fairs for the community and Â鶹´«Ã½s.
- Assists department leadership with analyzing data for accreditation and assessment. Collects, analyzes, and reports on evaluations of Â鶹´«Ã½s, sites and preceptors. Evaluates safety and security of clinical sites and housing for all rotations. Assists in data analysis for relevant accreditation.
- Prepares first-year Â鶹´«Ã½s for clinical training. Conducts and organizes workshops on professionalism, case log tracking software, and other topics related to clinical success. Arranges training for compliance with relevant government regulations, confidentiality standards, blood-borne pathogens safety, electronic medical records, operating room orientations, and others as required.
- Provides administrative support for all clinical rotation activities or processes.
Minimum qualifications
Minimum qualifications based upon job documentation and industry best practices. Any current employees not meeting these qualifications will be grandfathered until they move to a different job.
Required education
- Bachelor's degree in related field from an accredited institution.
Required experience
- Two years' relevant experience.
- Strong interpersonal, written and verbal communication skills.
- Strong organizational skills.
- Advanced word processing, spreadsheet and data base software applications.
Physical requirements
Office or other indoor work with minimal physical demands such as occasionally lifting or moving materials less than 25 pounds.
Working conditions
Work is generally performed in a well-lit, temperature-controlled indoor environment with occasional exposure to the outdoors or any number of elements.
