General summary
Designs, implements, and evaluates strategies for recruitment, admission, enrollment, and retention of a diverse group of academically talented and professionally committed Â鶹´«Ã½s to the undergraduate and graduate programs.
Major duties
- Manages the admissions process for undergraduate and graduate programs on all campuses, including the processing of applications, coordinating criminal background review processes, and serving member of the admissions committee.
- Recruits speakers, submits paperwork for continuing education credits for social workers in Michigan. Maintains confidential files for required period. Coordinates with University development on event publication, hosting, and follow-up.
- Interacts with stakeholders throughout the community and within the University to assure that there is awareness of the profession of social work and the programs at the University throughout all stakeholder groups.
- Manages all communication with prospective Â鶹´«Ã½s regarding admissions. Provides regular outreach to prospective Â鶹´«Ã½s through a variety of outreach activities. Provides program and career advising to prospective Â鶹´«Ã½s. Coordinates recruitment activities for graduate and undergraduate programs.
- Manages electronic databases. Completes reporting of Â鶹´«Ã½ data for internal and external stakeholders, including accreditation body. Shares information in relevant formats to advance the University’s vision of increased diversity, equity, inclusion, and accessibility.
- Provides Â鶹´«Ã½ services for undergraduate and graduate Â鶹´«Ã½s on all campuses, including assisting Â鶹´«Ã½s with accessing appropriate resources in the University and community. Manages department scholarship awards and Â鶹´«Ã½ requests for emergency funding.
- Supervises graduate assistant and social work interns focused on admissions and Â鶹´«Ã½ services. Manages social media and web content.
- Serves on the professional review committee for Â鶹´«Ã½s referred based upon barriers in program. Meets with Â鶹´«Ã½s who are in crisis, directing them to appropriate resources.
- Manages documentation for curricula, field, and continuing education approval, as required by certifying agencies.
Minimum qualifications
Minimum qualifications based upon job documentation and industry best practices. Any current employees not meeting these qualifications will be grandfathered until they move to a different job.
Required education
- Master's degree in Social Work from an accredited institution.
Required experience
- Two years' relevant experience.
- Post Masters of Social Work experience of social work admissions, retention and data- driven practice in higher education.
- Strong interpersonal, written and verbal communication skills.
Required other
- Ability to travel in-state and out-of-state.
- Ability to work irregular shifts and extended hours, including evenings and weekends.
Physical requirements
Light work with some physical demands such as continuously lifting or moving materials less than 25 pounds, but rarely moving more than 25 to 50 pounds.
Working conditions
Work is generally performed in a well-lit, temperature-controlled indoor environment with occasional exposure to the outdoors or any number of elements.
