General summary

Assists the director in facilitating the development, budgeting, marketing, and information-sharing regarding University scholarships. Serves as the University’s initial contact for matters concerning scholarships.

Major duties

  • Oversees the administration and disbursement of scholarship awards.
  • Oversees the implementation and maintenance the University scholarship application and awarding tool. Responsible for the implementation of a university-wide scholarship management system to monitor scholarship funds.
  • Coordinates with other financial aid staff members to identify scholarship awarding and trends. Ensures compliance with federal, state, and institutional regulations. Monitors and enforces scholarship data sharing policy and Â鶹´«Ã½ payments policy to ensure compliance with federal and institutional regulations.
  • Collects and analyzes scholarship data relative to scholarship awarding. Develops, recommends and assists with implementation of processes, policies, and procedures to enhance scholarship awarding to maximize enrollment objectives and improve University processes.
  • Researches potential scholarship program Â鶹´«Ã½ and impact of forms of aid awarding on Â鶹´«Ã½ success. Works closely with University Advancement to develop, enhance and support donor scholarships.
  • Serves as a liaison with the Admissions office regarding scholarship awarding and Â鶹´«Ã½ to facilitate enrollment and retention.
  • Participates as a member of the departmental management team, including strategic planning.
  • Works with communications and media team to improves Â鶹´«Ã½ access to scholarship through webpages, social media, and other marketing and communications.
  • Oversees the administration, awarding, budget management and account reconciliation of private, institutional, and state scholarships. Generates invoicing and reports and tracks fund utilization of scholarship dollars.
  • Advises University staff and Â鶹´«Ã½s on financial aid and related polices, procedures, rules and regulations.

Minimum qualifications

Minimum qualifications based upon job documentation and industry best practices. Any current employees not meeting these qualifications will be grandfathered until they move to a different job.

Required education

  • Bachelor's degree in related field from an accredited institution.

Required experience

  • Three years' relevant experience.
  • Strong interpersonal, written and verbal communication skills.
  • Thorough knowledge of federal, state and institutional financial aid regulations and guidelines.
  • Ability to explain and assist others with complex financial aid and scholarship matters.
  • In-depth knowledge of Â鶹´«Ã½ information system, HR management system and state and federal financial aid systems.
  • Working knowledge of tax regulations and forms pertaining to financial aid.

Desired qualifications

Desired education

  • Master's degree in related field from an accredited institution.

Desired experience

  • Experience with software-based data analysis and collection.

Physical requirements

Office or other indoor work with minimal physical demands such as occasionally lifting or moving materials less than 25 pounds.

Working conditions

Work is generally performed in a well-lit, temperature-controlled indoor environment with occasional exposure to the outdoors or any number of elements.
