General summary
Supports, coaches and advises Seita Scholarship Â鶹´«Ã½s in a lead capacity.
Major duties
- Provides supervision for Seita Campus Coaches. Provides work direction, training and development for coaches. Leads weekly meetings. Provides campus coach back-up and on-call support as required.
- Provides community outreach and education on program objectives, goals and outcomes. Assists with training of the fostering success coach model throughout Michigan and other states.
- Supports, coaches and advises Seita Â鶹´«Ã½s with all aspects of entry, assimilation, retention and graduation related to college life. Performs periodic assessments and monitors progress. Promotes personal and academic success and well-being of Seita Â鶹´«Ã½s in their transition to adulthood.
- Coaches Seita Â鶹´«Ã½s toward self-sufficiency in campus and community environments. Assists with securing basic needs. Coaches and prepares Seita Â鶹´«Ã½s with the transition to post-graduation careers and independent living.
- Establishes working relationships with appropriate University departments as well as external agencies and providers to access services for Seita Â鶹´«Ã½s in need and follows up with Â鶹´«Ã½s accordingly.
- Provides 24 hour on-call crisis counseling and intervention for Seita Â鶹´«Ã½s with immediate needs.
- Plans, implements and oversees campus visits, orientation, group meetings, summer camps and housing arrangements for Â鶹´«Ã½s admitted into the Seita Scholarship program, including some evening and weekend programming.
- Assesses Â鶹´«Ã½ needs, experience, independent and inter-dependent living skills.
- Develops, prepares and maintains statistical reports. Evaluates reports and recommends improvements to program operations.
Minimum qualifications
Minimum qualifications based upon job documentation and industry best practices. Any current employees not meeting these qualifications will be grandfathered until they move to a different job.
Required education
- Master's degree in related field from an accredited institution.
Required experience
- Two years' relevant experience.
- Strong interpersonal, written and oral communication skills.
Required other
- Licensure as a Master-level Social Worker (LMSW) in the State of Michigan or LMSW eligibility within one year of appointment or Master’s Degree in Counseling Psychology.
- Ability to work irregular shifts and extended hours, including weekends, holidays and on-call.
Physical requirements
Office or other indoor work with minimal physical demands such as occasionally lifting or moving materials less than 25 pounds.
Working conditions
Work is generally performed in a well-lit, temperature-controlled indoor environment with occasional exposure to the outdoors or any number of elements.
