General summary

Coordinates the comprehensive academic advising and co-curricular support services program for eligible first generation, low-income Â鶹´«Ã½s.

Major duties

  • Establishes program goals and provides recommendations regarding problems and issues outside the bounds of defined procedures and practices.
  • Provides comprehensive advising and co-curricular support services to eligible Â鶹´«Ã½s, including but not limited to developing individual Â鶹´«Ã½ development plans and facilitating sessions with Â鶹´«Ã½s on academic probation.
  • Resolves problems and determines appropriate actions. Monitors grades and Â鶹´«Ã½ progress. Provides referral and direct service for Â鶹´«Ã½s in need of academic support.
  • Collects and analyzes data to lead projects of moderate scope and complexity to ensure quality Â鶹´«Ã½ success services.
  • Collaborates with University faculty and staff for Â鶹´«Ã½ success. Maintains accurate records of services and ensures compliance to all policies and procedures of the University.
  • Provides training and work direction to Â鶹´«Ã½ mentors and tutors.

Minimum qualifications

Required education

  • Master's degree in related field from an accredited institution.

Required experience

  • Three years' relevant experience.
  • Experience working with low income, first-generation Â鶹´«Ã½s and Â鶹´«Ã½s with disabilities.
  • Experience teaching and advising in higher education.
  • Proven knowledge of assessment methods, college Â鶹´«Ã½ development theory, mentoring theory and practice, and program development and evaluation.
  • Strong interpersonal, written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong organizational skills.

Required other

  • Ability to work irregular shifts and extended hours, including evenings and weekends.
  • Ability to travel.

Physical requirements

Office or other indoor work with minimal physical demands such as occasionally lifting or moving materials less than 25 pounds.

Working conditions

Work is generally performed in a well-lit, temperature-controlled indoor environment with occasional exposure to the outdoors or any number of elements.
