General summary

Responsible for overseeing and coordinating laboratory experiences for the nursing department. Performs both administrative and directed educational support and works with Â鶹´«Ã½s, staff, faculty, and clinical agencies.

Major duties

  • Creates and breaks down laboratory experiences as directed by faculty for lab courses and simulation experiences. Responsible for set up, manipulation, role-playing, clean up, repair and maintenance of manikin.
  • Maintains overall lab organization, which includes lab equipment maintenance repairs, cleaning, and laundry. Maintains inventory and ordering system for the laboratory. Maintains relationships between vendors and community partners.
  • Provides lab practice to Â鶹´«Ã½s in collaboration with faculty, which may include scheduled open lab times and remediation practice.
  • Participates in recruitment and outreach activities, which may include coordination of and collaboration with faculty volunteers, and set up of lab activities for nursing program events that are on campus.
  • Hires, trains, evaluates, and supervises Â鶹´«Ã½ employees.

Minimum qualifications

Minimum qualifications based upon job documentation and industry best practices. Any current employees not meeting these qualifications will be grandfathered until they move to a different job.

Required education

  • Bachelor's degree in related field from an accredited institution.

Required experience

  • One year's relevant experience.
  • Experience as an RN in a hospital or clinical setting. Demonstrated interest, skills, and experience working with diverse groups

Required other

  • Licensure as a Registered Nurse in the State of Michigan.
  • Ability to work irregular shifts and extended hours, including evenings and weekends.

Physical requirements

Light work with some physical demands such as continuously lifting or moving materials less than 25 pounds, but rarely moving more than 25 to 50 pounds.

Working conditions

Work is generally performed in a well-lit, temperature-controlled indoor environment with occasional exposure to the outdoors or any number of elements.
