General summary
Serves as an advocate for military Â鶹´«Ã½s, including academic, administrative, and support services. Oversees and evaluates veteran recruiting activities and effectiveness.
Major duties
- Proposes and implements policies and procedures that impact military and veteran Â鶹´«Ã½s. Maintains a communication network with appropriate University departments and external constituents to access services for Â鶹´«Ã½s.
- Assesses, supports, coaches, and advises military Â鶹´«Ã½s with all aspects of Â鶹´«Ã½ life related to entry, assimilation, retention, and graduation.
- Collaborates with campus partners on grant proposals and development efforts to secure additional funding to better support Â鶹´«Ã½s and the campus community regarding the Â鶹´«Ã½-veteran population.
- Evaluates and assesses the effectiveness of recruiting and retention programs and activities. Make recommendations or adjustments to increase the recruitment of veteran Â鶹´«Ã½s to the University
- Manages the budget to ensure proper use of funds for program support and marketing purposes. Performs other administrative and campus responsibilities as required.
- Hires, trains, evaluates, and supervises staff and Â鶹´«Ã½ employees.
Minimum qualifications
Minimum qualifications based upon job documentation and industry best practices. Any current employees not meeting these qualifications will be grandfathered until they move to a different job.
Required education
- Bachelor's degree in related field from an accredited institution.
Required experience
- Three years' relevant experience.
- Supervisory or lead experience.
- Strong interpersonal, written and verbal communication skills.
- Strong organizational skills.
Physical requirements
Office or other indoor work with minimal physical demands such as occasionally lifting or moving materials less than 25 pounds.
Working conditions
Work is generally performed in a well-lit, temperature-controlled indoor environment with occasional exposure to the outdoors or any number of elements.
