General summary

Coordinates, collaborates, and establishes prevention and intervention systems which support efforts across campus and the community to assist at risk Â鶹´«Ã½s and Â鶹´«Ã½s facing crises, life traumas, and other barriers that impede success and well-being.

Major duties

  • Provides crisis intervention for Â鶹´«Ã½s in distress, at risk, and in crisis. Assesses and meets with Â鶹´«Ã½s exhibiting symptoms of distress. Connects Â鶹´«Ã½s with internal and external resources.
  • Collaborates with Â鶹´«Ã½ affairs leadership to manage and resolve situations involving Â鶹´«Ã½s in active crisis.
  • Manages and maintains recordkeeping using an electronic data base system, analyses data, prepares reports in compliance with University, local, state, and federal reporting guidelines.
  • Establishes and maintains working relationships with campus community resources, Â鶹´«Ã½ support networks, professional associations, and key stakeholders, to develop a coordinated, multi-disciplinary approach to responding to advocating for, and supporting Â鶹´«Ã½s.

Minimum qualifications

Minimum qualifications based upon job documentation and industry best practices. Any current employees not meeting these qualifications will be grandfathered until they move to a different job.

Required education

  • Master’s degree in related field from an accredited institution.

Required experience

  • Three years' relevant experience.
  • Strong interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills.
  • Conflict resolution and problem-solving skills, including active listening.

Required other

  • Licensure as a Master-level Social Worker (LMSW) in the State of Michigan, a Licensed Professional Counselor in the State of Michigan, or a Limited License Psychologist (LLP) in the State of Michigan.

Physical requirements

Office or other indoor work with minimal physical demands such as occasionally lifting or moving materials less than 25 pounds.

Working conditions

Work is generally performed in a well-lit, temperature-controlled indoor environment with occasional exposure to the outdoors or any number of elements.
