General summary

Directs and manages the functions and staff of accounts receivable and collections.

Major duties

  • Manages staff and operations of accounts receivable and collection units.
  • Administers programs to ensure accurate and timely implementation of tuition and fees and application of financial aid to accounts in accordance with federal regulations.
  • Oversees the management, development, testing, implementation and modification of automated systems related to accounts receivable functions; including the Â鶹´«Ã½ information system, Perkins Loans, e-billing, and other related systems.
  • Authorizes final release of invoices and statements; ensures accurate and timely preparation of tuition invoices, statements, and collections from Â鶹´«Ã½s, third parties, financial aid, and businesses.
  • Serves on various committees with authority to make decisions regarding accounts receivable and collections operations.
  • Oversees training and communications regarding Â鶹´«Ã½ account services, processes, and account activities.
  • Serves as liaison to University departments to ensure appropriate application of Board of Trustees-approved tuition rates and relevant policies and procedures.

Minimum qualifications

Minimum qualifications based upon job documentation and industry best practices. Any current employees not meeting these qualifications will be grandfathered until they move to a different job.

Required education

  • Bachelor's degree in related field from an accredited institution.

Required experience

  • Five years' relevant experience.
  • Professional accounting or financial experience in the following areas: accounts receivable, accounts payable/disbursements, cashiering, collections, and customer service.
  • Supervisory experience or experience providing guidance to Â鶹´«Ã½s or other employees.

Physical requirements

Office or other indoor work with minimal physical demands such as occasionally lifting or moving materials less than 25 pounds.

Working conditions

Work is generally performed in a well-lit, temperature-controlled indoor environment with occasional exposure to the outdoors or any number of elements.
