General summary

Responsible for strategic leadership, including long-term and short-term planning in the area of prospect development, accurate on-time delivery of assigned projects, prospect research and effectiveness.

Major duties

  • Recommends and designs business intelligence tools, in collaboration with advancement services and development teams, to address trends in donor behavior from annual giving to principal gifts fundraising.
  • Builds strong relationships across the division and University. Recognizes the importance of donor development functions to increase dollars and donors.
  • Participates in University project teams and work groups to improve data availability and reporting.
  • Develops goals, policies and procedures by providing input to the management team regarding effectiveness, prospect assignments and fundraising strategies.
  • Leads the prospect development program ensuring a systematic and on-time delivery of newly identified prospects. Updates existing key donors on an on-going basis.
  • Ensures that standard operating procedures are documented and followed, and that they are updated to stay current with industry best practices.
  • Supervises and evaluates staff and Â鶹´«Ã½ employees.

Required education

  • Bachelor's degree in related field from an accredited institution.

Required experience

  • Five years’ relevant experience.
  • Supervisory experience and ability to delegate.
  • Excellent interpersonal, written and verbal communication skills.
  • Excellent analytical and organizational skills.
  • Attention to detail and creativity.
  • Ability to take initiative and move projects from conception to completion.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects with strict deadlines.
  • Strong business computer skills.
  • Excellent customer service skills.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and exhibit good judgement in making independent decisions.

  • Ability to work irregular shifts and extended hours, including evenings and weekends.

Desired education

  • Master's degree in related field from an accredited institution.

Physical requirements

Office or other indoor work with minimal physical demands such as occasionally lifting or moving materials less than 25 pounds.

Working conditions

Work is generally performed in a well-lit, temperature-controlled indoor environment with occasional exposure to the outdoors or any number of elements.
