General summary
Directs conference management activities and facility operations for University regional locations.
Major duties
- Directs conference management and planning activities, including facilitating logistics and supervising and supporting budgets for non-University organizations. Collaborates with academic departments to create content for University conferences and professional development.
- Establishes and evaluates maintenance standards for safety and security of facilities. Identifies, evaluates and prioritizes maintenance needs. Directs the completion of maintenance work through the facilities management vendor.
- Develops and implements safety and security policies and procedures. Trains faculty, staff and Â鶹´«Ã½s on safety and security matters. Ensures compliance with the Clery Act and provides yearly reports to public safety.
- Directs and coordinates event management for facility rentals, including corporate and non-profit clients at University regional location facilities.
- Directs daily facility operations of the University's Grand Rapids operations. Oversees the conference staff division-wide.
- Supervises staff.
Minimum qualifications
Minimum qualifications based upon job documentation and industry best practices. Any current employees not meeting these qualifications will be grandfathered until they move to a different job.
Required education
- Bachelor's degree in related field from an accredited institution.
Required experience
- Three years' relevant experience.
- Supervisory or lead experience.
- Strong interpersonal, written and verbal communication skills.
Required other
- Ability to travel throughout Michigan.
- Ability to work irregular shifts and extended hours, including weekends and holidays.
Physical requirements
Office or other indoor work with minimal physical demands such as occasionally lifting or moving materials less than 25 pounds.
Working conditions
Work is generally performed in a well-lit, temperature-controlled indoor environment with occasional exposure to the outdoors or any number of elements.
