General summary

Advises Â鶹´«Ã½s, faculty and graduate advisors on the formatting of doctoral dissertations, specialist projects and master's theses. Ensures compliance with federal regulators, copyright law and University policy with regard to doctoral dissertations, specialist projects and master’s theses.

Major duties

  • Reviews and approves formatting of dissertations, specialist projects and theses for compliance with University guidelines. Ensures research protocol and copyright compliance of dissertations, specialist projects and theses.
  • Processes forms and maintains records relating to dissertations, specialist projects and theses. Develops statistical reports and spreadsheets reflecting data of dissertations, specialist projects, theses and related paperwork. Coordinates awards.
  • Conducts formatting workshops for the preparation of dissertations, specialist projects and theses. Implements formatting workshops for special groups and provides individual consulting throughout the academic year. Advises constituents on graduate policies and procedures.
  • Processes graduate faculty nomination forms to facilitate review for the graduate dean. Reviews each nomination to determine status, ensures proposed term fits criteria and indicates appropriate changes on the form.
  • Creates and edits written copy regarding doctoral graduates for commencement program. Assists the Registrar’s Office with reporting at each graduation period.
  • Supervises a doctoral associate. Assists the coordinator in completion of the follow-up procedures for dissertations, specialist projects and theses.

Minimum qualifications

Minimum qualifications based upon job documentation and industry best practices. Any current employees not meeting these qualifications will be grandfathered until they move to a different job.

Required education

  • Bachelor's degree in related field from an accredited institution.

Required experience

  • One year's relevant experience.
  • Strong interpersonal, written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong editing skills.
  • Familiarity with graduate-level research reporting requirements and protocols.

Physical requirements

Office or other indoor work with minimal physical demands such as occasionally lifting or moving materials less than 25 pounds.

Working conditions

Work is generally performed in a well-lit, temperature-controlled indoor environment with occasional exposure to the outdoors or any number of elements.
