General summary
Designs and coordinates production of print and online promotional materials for University departments, offices and foundations.
Major duties
- Produces designs for printed promotional materials that implement the University’s design standards.
- Creates graphic, photography and video preparation. Creates, retouches and color corrects files for appropriate medium being used.
- Manages and coordinates production of finished designs with vendors. Writes specifications to obtain bids, prepare mock-ups, and verify proofs.
- Serves as a representative on design issues. Supports University areas through consultation and by providing art elements that meet visual identity guidelines for fundraising and alumni relations activities.
- Mentors Â鶹´«Ã½ interns through assigned design projects.
- Maintains database for tracking project status, billings, documenting project specifications and other data.
- Serves on website development and management teams.
- May plan, direct takes or work with outside vendor to capture images for various marketing initiatives.
- May coordinate meetings to prepare proofs, confirm deadlines and discuss budgets. Ensures that project deadlines and budgets are met throughout the process.
Minimum qualifications
Minimum qualifications based upon job documentation and industry best practices. Any current employees not meeting these qualifications will be grandfathered until they move to a different job.
Required education
- Bachelor's degree in related field from an accredited institution.
Required experience
- Three years' relevant experience.
- Experience with relevant computer systems and design software.
- Demonstrated ability to manage multiple projects from conceptualization through completion.
- Strong interpersonal, written and verbal communication skills.

Physical requirements
Office or other indoor work with minimal physical demands such as occasionally lifting or moving materials less than 25 pounds.
Working conditions
Work is generally performed in a well-lit, temperature-controlled indoor environment with occasional exposure to the outdoors or any number of elements.
