General summary
Assists with the planning, implementation and assessment of health promotion programs and services.
Major duties
- Designs, delivers and evaluates health promotion, health education and prevention programs on priority topics. Tailors strategies and content to diverse audiences.
- Directs an alcohol risk reduction program and a bystander intervention program, including budget monitoring and strategic planning. Coordinates mandated educational interventions for Â鶹´«Ã½s who violate the University alcohol and drug policies. Leads health center and University committees as appropriate. Reports progress and recommendations to leadership staff.
- Assists with department leadership, strategic planning and implementation of policies and procedures.
- Advises and mentors the Student Health Advisory Council registered Â鶹´«Ã½ organization at Sindecuse Health Center. Recruits Â鶹´«Ã½s as interns and advocates for health promotion initiatives. Creates and implements training and development activities for Â鶹´«Ã½ leadership groups.
- Collects, analyzes and reports assessment data for the department. Coordinates implementation of the National College Health Assessment. Monitors Â鶹´«Ã½ learning outcomes and health behavior trends. Coordinates and maintains content updates, assessment data and Â鶹´«Ã½ participation in online learning Â鶹´«Ã½. Updates content for department website.
- Remains current in best practices and research.
- Supervises Â鶹´«Ã½ employees. Resolves operational issues.
Minimum qualifications
Minimum qualifications based upon job documentation and industry best practices. Any current employees not meeting these qualifications will be grandfathered until they move to a different job.
Required education
- Master's degree in related field from an accredited institution.
Required experience
- Three years' relevant experience.
- Strong interpersonal, written and verbal communication skills.
Required other
- Certified Health Education Specialist (CHES) or eligible to take CHES exam within 18 months of hire.
Physical requirements
Office or other indoor work with minimal physical demands such as occasionally lifting or moving materials less than 25 pounds.
Working conditions
Work is generally performed in a well-lit, temperature-controlled indoor environment with occasional exposure to the outdoors or any number of elements.
