Associate Director Payroll and Disbursement

General summary

Oversees operations of the payroll and disbursement department. Responsible for preparing and disbursing all University payrolls and prepares and submits University tax returns.

Major duties

  • Directs all disbursement functions. Manages payroll, accounts payable, procurement card and travel operations.
  • Oversees the preparation of pay for all University payrolls to ensure timely receipt of paychecks. Ensures all taxes and deductions are withheld.
  • Develops short and long-term plans for the unit. Ensures compliance with relevant government regulations.
  • Leads new technical initiatives and future payroll and payment trends. Recommends innovative ideas to meet needs of the University.
  • Participates on project teams and completes special projects as assigned.
  • Proves training and information relative to payroll policies and procedures.
  • Supervises professional and administrative staff.

Minimum qualifications

Minimum qualifications based upon job documentation and industry best practices. Any current employees not meeting these qualifications will be grandfathered until they move to a different job.

Required education

  • Bachelor's degree in related field from an accredited institution.

Required experience

  • Five years' relevant experience.
  • Professional accounting or financial experience in the following areas: accounts receivable, accounts payable/disbursements, cashiering, collections, and customer service.
  • Supervisory experience or experience providing guidance to Â鶹´«Ã½s or other employees.

Physical requirements

Office or other indoor work with minimal physical demands such as occasionally lifting/moving materials less than 25 pounds.

Working conditions

Work is generally performed in a well lit, temperature-controlled indoor environment with occasional exposure to the outdoors and/or any number of elements.
