Dr. David Hartmann is a professor and chair of the Department of Sociology at Â鶹´«Ã½. While Hartmann enjoys and values classroom-centered learning, faculty-Â鶹´«Ã½ interaction on research projects remains the central learning model in graduate education.
As a research center director, Hartmann was fortunate to have worked with graduate and undergraduate Â鶹´«Ã½s on innumerable research projects over the years. Part of his teaching agenda is to continue to find Â鶹´«Ã½ for the professional experiences.
Most of Hartmann's research interests are pursued through funded research projects with co-investigators from other of the social, behavioral and health sciences. These research interests led to work as a consultant and expert witness on administrative reorganization and racial equity issues for plaintiff groups and for municipalities, urban authorities such as police forces, school districts and nonprofit organizations.
