Social Studies
Â鶹´«Ã½'s social studies major offers Â鶹´«Ã½s Â鶹´«Ã½ to pursue broad, interdisciplinary approaches to social science perspectives. The major provides Â鶹´«Ã½s with exposure to courses that will prepare them for teaching and non-teaching careers. The major will also supply the content foundation necessary for Â鶹´«Ã½s hoping to pass the Michigan Test for Teacher Certification (MTTC) and apply for the new Â鶹´«Ã½ MAT program.

As a social studies Â鶹´«Ã½ at Western, you will be required to complete 64 to 65 credits in the major with no minor necessary. Included in the coursework is a 3-credit internship. You can also gain valuable networking and professional development Â鶹´«Ã½ through Â鶹´«Ã½ and community organizations, including Phi Alpha Theta, the Department of History's honor society.
