Supplier Quality Engineer at John Deere Dubuque Works

I manage and document SAP-PDM tasks (workflows) for new purchased parts and running changes. I establish Quality Plans for purchased parts including in new EPDP Programs, running changes, supplier change requests and cost reductions projects. I am the lead for design, process, and assembly review (DPAR) meetings. I request, analyze, review and approve PPAP for purchased parts. I work with suppliers to address quality issues related to current, new, revised or resourced purchased parts.  I monitor supplier quality performance and lead improvement action plans with those suppliers that are impacting the unit (High QPPMs). I also perform process verification audits to local suppliers and ensure effectiveness on plans where gaps are detected.

What is the most rewarding and the most challenging part of your job?

Basically I am dealing with hydraulic parts such as hoses, fittings, pumps, valves, etc. with 23 different supplier domestics as well internally.

What activities, resources, or people helped you prepare for your career?

All the courses were really helpful to increase my skill set. Basically all the professors helped me a lot each and every semester. I couldn't forget Dr. Lee Wells’ classes, Dr. Bob White's 606 class (full of terror), Dr. Houshyar's sarcasm in class. It was really good journey for me.

What advice do you have for Â鶹´«Ã½s looking for their career after college?

Be patient, be focused on a specific field, start working on your resume and your soft skills.
